Agricultural Chemical Companies Open Mixed As Wall Street Declines Modestly

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of agricultural chemical companies were mixed on Tuesday, as Wall Street retreated moderately following Alcoa Inc.'s lower first-quarter profit.
Alcoa said rising costs and a weak U.S. dollar dampened quarterly earnings.

Also, chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said sales for the three months ended March 29 dropped 15 percent from the year-ago period because of product delays and competition from Intel Corp.

Here's how some agricultural chemical companies were faring Tuesday morning:

Monsanto Co., up 27 cents to $119.86.

DuPont Co., up 16 cents to $49.15.

Dow Chemical Co., down 8 cents to $38.72.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc., up $2.44 to $175.53.

Mosaic Co., up $1.42 to $119.25.
